Círculo de Bellas Artes (CBA)
The Círculo de Bellas Artes (CBA) is a non-profit cultural institution founded in 1880 in the heart of Madrid. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious cultural institutions in Spain, a multidisciplinary centre with activities ranging from the visual arts to literature, science, philosophy, cinema and the performing arts.
The CBA develops an important work of international scope in the field of creation and culture. It has been labelled as "Casa Europa" for its recognized role as a forum for reflection and debate by and for European civil society. The CBA is not only sponsoring an intense debate on key issues of European construction, but is succeeding in taking these issues beyond the academic or political sphere and into civil society. In cooperation with a wide range of prestigious Spanish and foreign Universities, our institution leads many lines of research and reflection on the cultural, political and historical links that could shape a common European identity.
The CBA is also working to become a great pole of attraction for innovation, knowledge transfer projects and creative practice in the fields of Arts and Humanities. For an institution with a long tradition of commitment to culture, arts and education, it is crucial to develop strong bonds with higher education institutions through solid bidirectional relationships that enrich the artistic and cultural panorama.
